Geotechnical Engineering Group changes name to Terracon
OLATHE, KAN. — Geotechnical Engineering Group (GEG), located in Grand Junction, Colo., officially changed its name to Terracon Consultants Inc. on Dec. 1, 2012. GEG joined Terracon in December 2010. As Terracon, they will continue to offer geotechnical, environmental, construction materials and facilities services.
ASPRS survey finds hiring in the geospatial industry continues despite high U.S. unemployment rates
BETHESDA, MD. — Despite an 8.6-percent unemployment rate in the United States, at least 57 percent of the Sustaining Member organizations of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) are currently hiring for jobs within the geospatial industry. ASPRS recently conducted a survey of 129 ASPRS Sustaining Member career websites, and determined that in the month of November, at least 73 ASPRS Sustaining Member companies/agencies had job postings on their websites that consisted of positions ranging from entry-level jobs to high-level executive positions.
TRB seeks consultants for DOT geospatial use study
WASHINGTON, D.C. — TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) is seeking expressions of interest from consultants interested in producing a state-of-the-practice synthesis that documents advanced geospatial data tools, technologies, and information for highway projects, including procedures and proposed standards of practice that can be used to attain the level of accuracy when using these advanced geospatial technologies. Expressions of interest by consultants are due by Aug. 12, 2011.
