General: Contributors are encouraged to query the editor before submitting editorial, although this is not a requirement. An outline, abstract, or informal description of the article are all acceptable formats for the query. A brief biography of the author is appreciated. Feature articles are accepted via e-mail. Contributors must disclose professional interest or affiliations that may influence the position taken or methods advocated in their submissions.
The editor prefers that press releases be sent via e-mail, either within the body of the message or as an attached Microsoft Word document.
Content: Articles should be authored with consideration of our audience and their daily work. News events, research developments, emerging technologies, management issues, and technical engineering information are all appropriate topics. All contributions are subject to editing for length, content, and appropriate style. Submissions should include author information if they wish to appear in the magazine. No more than 5 links in an article please.
Length: News articles should be 300 to 800 words in length and focus on topical issues rather than detailed technical information. Technical feature articles are to be approximately 1,000 to 1,400 words in length and technical in nature. They generally take a “how to” tone and detail some aspect of civil or structural engineering or land surveying. Non-technical feature articles of 1,000 to 1,400 words in length will also be considered for publication.

Digital images at a resolution of 300 dpi at 3×5 inches or larger in JPG, EPS, TIFF, or PSD format are the preferred format — the larger the better). Please email smaller images (less than about 8 MB) or post larger images on an ftp website such as Dropbox or Google Drive.
Video: Links or embed codes for online videos are welcomed for posting or referencing within articles or as news stories.
