NV5 acquires Hong Kong-based CSA Building Services Consulting Engineers

NV5 Global, Inc. acquired CSA (M&E) Ltd., a provider of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering and sustainability consulting services. With annual revenues approaching $5 million and offices in Hong Kong, Macau, Malaysia and the UAE, CSA serves private- and public-sector clients throughout Asia and the Middle East.

Newtecnic enters U.S. market, opens LA office

Newtecnic, an international building engineering design firm best known for its work making futuristic buildings with curvy, complex facades possible, opened its first U.S. office in downtown Los Angeles’ historic Fine Arts Building. Growth in college campus space eclipses enrollment growth, increases stress on facilities management

New construction starts advanced 3 percent in 2017

For all of 2017, total construction starts grew 3 percent to $745.9 billion, according to Dodge Data & Analytics, which followed the 6 percent increase reported for 2016. The full year 2017 gain was dampened by a 35 percent downturn for the electric utility/gas plant category. If electric utilities and gas plants are excluded, total construction starts for 2017 would be 5 percent higher than the corresponding amount for 2016.
