Santa Ana, Calif. — Salas O’Brien announced that Ohio-based Varo Engineers has joined the company, creating a combined firm of 16 offices with more than 450 employee-owners, 115 registered professionals, and clients that are the most significant companies in the United States.

Varo will continue to be managed locally by its current leaders and will adopt the Salas O’Brien name after a transition period.

“I am thrilled that we have brought together two outstanding firms and that each Varo team member will be a new employee-owner of Salas O’Brien,” said Darin Anderson, Salas O’Brien chairman and CEO. “We very carefully screen the firms we choose to partner with and pass over many who do not fit our rigorous criteria. But from the moment we began meeting with Varo’s leaders, we knew that together, we would create an even stronger and more diverse organization with greater opportunities for our team members and the ability to serve our clients even better with improved technologies, increased service capabilities, and an expanded geography for our national clients.”

The combined company will become a national powerhouse with significant expertise in manufacturing, industrial, power, critical environments, clean energy, education, and telecommunications.

“Joining Salas O’Brien is a huge opportunity for the Varo team to shine by expanding our work to new areas of the country,” said Tim Burnham, Varo CEO. “Salas O’Brien’s strength and resources will also allow us to serve our current clients better than ever, while keeping the regional decision-making and accountability that have been instrumental to our success.”
