Tyler Ranf Joins Thornton Tomasetti as Vice President, Aviation Sector Leader for the West region

Tyler Ranf, a specialist in the design and management of aviation projects, has joined Thornton Tomasetti’s Structural Engineering practice. Working from the San Francisco office, the new vice president will serve as aviation sector leader for the West region and will focus on a broad range of new construction, expansion and modernization projects. Tyler has more than 15 years of structural engineering experience, including the design of terminals, hangars and support facilities across the U.S. His expertise includes seismic resilience, sustainability, and innovative delivery methods, including progressive design-build. Most recently, he was with KPFF Consulting Engineers. Tyler holds bachelor’s degrees in physics and civil engineering from University of Puget Sound and Washington University, respectively. He also has a master’s degree in civil engineering and Ph.D. in structural engineering, both from the University of Washington. He is a licensed professional engineer and licensed structural engineer in several states in the West and Midwest.
