Terracon opens new offices in Chattanooga; New Orleans

CHATTANOOGA, TENN.; NEW ORLEANS — The Aquaterra Engineering LLC and Gallet & Associates Inc., Chattanooga, Tenn., offices have joined forces into a new combined office in Chattanooga located at 51 Lost Mound Drive. Terracon acquired both Aquaterra and Gallet in 2009.

The Terracon Chattanooga office will continue to service clients locally and nationally and provide geotechnical, environmental, construction materials, and facilities services. The office houses a state-of-the-art soils/asphalt and concrete testing laboratory. Derek Hodnett, P.E., P.G., will serve as the office manager. Employees from the Aquaterra and Gallet offices were retained and are now employed by Terracon.

Additionally, Terracon recently opened an office in New Orleans to expand its service offerings in the Southeast and to enhance services for local and national clients. With this expansion, Terracon now has a total of 30 offices serving the Southeast and more than 100 offices nationwide.

“The New Orleans location is facilitated by an increasing work load and a desire to expand in the area,” said Victor Donald, P.E., senior vice president and division manager with Terracon. “Opportunities were identified several months ago, and we decided to focus dedicated resources in New Orleans.”

These efforts have resulted in being awarded several projects that are estimated at $700,000 total in fees, including:

  • Geotechnical contract for a new pump station being built in Jefferson Parish, La., for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps);
  • Geotechnical contract for a 7.3-mile levee construction project in New Orleans East for the Corps;
  • Construction materials engineering and testing (CMET) services on three new Corps projects in New Orleans that include levee construction, floodwalls, and drainage systems being built as a part of the Corps 100-year flood protection plan; and
  • Numerous commercial projects requiring geotechnical engineering, CMET, and environmental consulting services.

Ricky Simon, vice president and regional manager of Terracon’s Louisiana and Mississippi offices, will serve as the New Orleans office manager.
