Terracon expands in New England

Olathe, Kan. — Terracon announced that the projects and assets of ROC Geotechnical Consulting Engineers, PLLC (ROC) are now part of Terracon. Located in Rochester, N.Y., ROC offers geotechnical and soils testing capabilities. The transition is effective immediately. Terracon retains all four ROC employees.

The expansion allows Terracon to further strengthen its service offerings and geographic presence in Rochester and across upstate New York. Terracon’s existing Rochester location opened in 2015 and has quickly grown to 20 employees. Employees from both offices will remain at their current locations before eventually integrating into one office.

“This opportunity allows us to further strengthen our presence in the area and draw upon the excellent regional history and reputation of an established upstate New York firm,” said David Gaboury, P.E., Terracon’s president and chief executive officer. “Gaining this area expertise aligns with our commitment to bring even greater resources to our clients.”

With more than 70 combined years of geotechnical experience, the partners of ROC formed the company in 2011 through an acquisition of Tierney Geotechnical Engineering. ROC’s services include subsurface exploration; geotechnical engineering design recommendations and laboratory analyses; and geotechnical field inspection services.

ROC services clients across the public and private sectors and boasts a project history spanning across the commercial, healthcare, energy, and government markets.

“ROC has an incredible background in the region, having provided services on countless recognizable projects,” said Bob Pavlicek, P.E., Terracon’s northeast division manager. “Gaining these resources helps us provide clients with cost-effective consulting supported by powerful, site-specific information and regional expertise.”
