SWE and the Deloitte Foundation Fund $770,000 in New Scholarships for Women

Thirty-five new and renewable scholarships to be awarded to women pursuing technology and engineering fields

Chicago — In collaboration with the Deloitte Foundation, the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is proud to announce 35 new $10,000 scholarships for women pursuing an engineering and technology degree — renewable for up to two years, beginning with the 2024 – 2025 academic year. Through these scholarships, SWE and the Deloitte Foundation will help further advance and elevate the profile of women in these professional fields. Ultimately, the goal is to inspire and attract women to future careers in STEM fields and retain them in the profession.

“Our scholarship program is one of the many reasons we remain a trusted resource to future women engineers,” said Karen Horting, CEO and executive director of SWE. “We are proud to collaborate with the Deloitte Foundation to provide an extraordinary amount of financial resources for women who are pursuing a degree in engineering and technology to help make the career of their dreams a reality.”

SWE robust scholarship program supports women who are pursuing an ABET-accredited bachelor’s or graduate degree program in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology, and computer science. In 2023-2024, SWE awarded 335 scholarships valued at more than $1.5 million.

“The Deloitte Foundation helps prepare the next generation for the future of work,” said Erin Scanlon, president of the Deloitte Foundation. “We are thrilled to provide this financial support to help open the doors to opportunity for these women and increase interest in STEM-related careers.”
