Structural Engineers Association of Northern California honors two from SGH

San Francisco The Structural Engineers Association of Northern California (SEAONC) honored Ronald L. Mayes, Ph.D., staff consultant, and Taryn N. Stubblefield, S.E., Senior Staff II, both at national engineering firm Simpson Gumpertz & Heger Inc. (SGH).

SEAONC installed Mayes in the grade of Fellow of the Association and Stubblefield as an Association Director.

Some of Mayes’ accomplishments include:

• Receiving a Fulbright Scholarship to perform postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley.

• Developing groundbreaking analytical and experimental work on the seismic performance of masonry structures.

• Introducing performance-based design issues into earthquake engineering.

• Pioneering work on the application of seismic isolation technology.

Stubblefield has been active in SEAONC for more than 10 years. She recently chaired the Association’s Business Forum and previously chaired the Continuing Education Committee.
