Charlotte, N.C. — Stewart, a multidiscipline design, engineering and land planning firm, announced the opening of its new Construction Services Group in Charlotte, N.C., joining its existing 40-person office that has been in the area more than 15 years. The service line operates from a new 4,850-square-foot construction materials testing (CMT) facility/lab, initially with four employees led by Justin Nance, P.E., with the intention to double its staff by Q2 2018. This expansion plays to the company’s strengths and expertise, allowing Stewart to better serve local client needs and meet market demand.

Over the last decade, Stewart has been operating a successful CMT facility in Raleigh with 22 employees, offering geotechnical engineering, CMT, special inspections and construction engineering and inspections (CEI) to clients including school systems, universities, hospitals, local municipalities, NCDOT, and developers. At the Raleigh facility, Stewart performs testing on soil, aggregate, concrete, grout, mortar, asphalt, sprayed-applied fire-resistive material and other construction materials. With a robust developer market in two major North Carolina cities, Stewart anticipates higher demand for its construction services as Charlotte and the Triangle area continue to grow.

“We are excited to officially launch our newest Construction Services service line so we can better serve our Charlotte-based clients with a ’one-stop’ provider for their engineering and testing/inspection needs,” said Don Brown, P.E., VP, Manager of Construction Services at Stewart. “We believe that duplicating the Raleigh Construction Services model to the Charlotte market will benefit our current (and future) clients by our cross-discipline collaboration, extensive internal resources, attention to detail, and our well-organized lab facilities.”

Stewart is located in Raleigh, Durham and Charlotte, N.C., serving domestic and international clientele. The total number of staff located in Charlotte is 43 and growing. With a unique cross-discipline collaborative approach that results in stronger and more creative design solutions, Stewart offers a full range of services to meet the needs of its clients, including:
