Stewart hires surveying industry veteran Floyd Sweatt as Geomatics senior project manager

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Stewart, an interdisciplinary design, engineering and planning firm, is welcoming Floyd Sweatt as a senior project manager for Geomatics in its Columbia, South Carolina, office.

In his new role, Sweatt will oversee design project management, business development and client relations while collaborating with Stewart’s interdisciplinary practice areas on complex projects.

“Floyd’s wealth of experience and nearly 30 years in the field are invaluable,” said Willy Stewart, CEO and founder of Stewart. “As an integral member of the Stewart team, Floyd will lend his expertise and leadership to spearhead a wide range of projects as a senior project manager.”

Sweatt has extensive experience in surveying and engineering. He obtained his S.C. Professional Land Surveying License in 2011 and joins the Stewart team after retiring from a 28-year career with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT). He most recently served as the SCDOT District 4 Assistant Regional Survey Manager in Chester and the District 1 Regional Survey Manager in Lexington.

Sweatt has been very active in the South Carolina Society of Professional Land Surveyors (SCSPLS), serving as the organization’s President in 2019. Additionally, Sweatt has been a member of the SCSPLS Tri-County Chapter of Professional Land Surveyors serving Chester, York and Lancaster Counties. He is also a current member of the National Society of Professional Surveyors.

After discharging from the military in 1991, Sweatt attended York Technical College in Rock Hill, South Carolina, earning degrees in civil engineering and engineering graphics. In addition, he most recently earned a Bachelor of Science in surveying and mapping from East Tennessee State University.
