Stantec to manage process facilities program delivery for DC Water

The firm will support DC Water’s shift to collaborative delivery for wastewater infrastructure, advise on digital transformation and operational efficiency

Stantec, a global leader in sustainable design and engineering, has been selected to serve as program manager for DC Water’s Process Facilities Program (PFP), a major part of DC Water’s US$9.6B 10-year capital improvement program. Stantec is the prime consultant, with a team of national and local subconsultants supporting the program.

As PFP Program Manager, Stantec will support DC Water in the delivery of multiple large-scale capital improvement projects within the Blue Plains Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant—the largest treatment plant of its kind in the world—through collaborative delivery. The PFP includes wastewater treatment facility upgrades and upgrades to upstream stormwater and wastewater pump stations.

The firm will also advise on future wastewater system improvements and collaborative delivery strategies for those projects to help equip DC Water to meet growth demands and future needs.

Stantec will be responsible for multiple components of the PFP. This includes managing improvements for wastewater infrastructure and providing planning, preliminary design, construction management, and engineering services for wastewater and stormwater pumping and treatment facilities. The team will also help DC Water with digital transformation and bringing new technology to major projects to drive cost savings and operational efficiencies.
