Stantec expands Environmental Services team in Western New York

Strategic group hire enhances Stantec’s conventional and renewable energy capabilities in the state

Stantec welcomes three new experts to its growing Environmental Services practice in the Northeast. The new team members bring nearly 35 years of combined experience and will focus on environmental permitting and licensing for clients in renewables, electric transmission and distribution, and oil and gas. The group supports Stantec’s Power practice and is based outside of Buffalo, the largest city in Western New York, ahead of Rochester and Syracuse.

“Sean, Jennifer, and Eleanor will be tremendous assets to our growing Power team in Western New York,” said Scott Storlid, senior vice president for Environmental Services at Stantec. “We are confident their proven expertise will help us expand and enhance our conventional and renewable energy capabilities in communities across New York State and beyond.”

New hires include:

  • Sean McCormick, CPESC – McCormick brings more than 14 years of experience managing multi-discipline teams to his role as Senior Project Manager. His experience includes performing and overseeing construction site inspections, developing stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs), preparing major utility transmission facility filings, construction compliance oversight, and preparing other environmental permitting applications. In this position, he is responsible for business development and leading the delivery of strategic projects in the region. McCormick is a Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC) and holds a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from Pennsylvania State University.
  • Jennifer Kelly – Kelly joins as a Project Manager with 16 years of experience in preparation and oversight of major utility transmission facility filings, route identification and fatal flaws analysis, environmental permitting and regulatory compliance, and preparing environmental assessment forms and environmental impact statements. She also has experience in groundwater, surface water, and soil investigation and remediation at various hazardous and radioactive/mixed waste sites and has provided oversight for drilling and remediation jobsites and created work plans for proposed site work. Kelly holds a bachelor of science in earth science from the State University of New York at Buffalo and a bachelor of arts in anthropology from the State University of New York at Fredonia.
  • Eleanor Eshenour – Eshenour joins as an Environmental Scientist and Geographic Information System (GIS) Specialist with four years of experience and a background in physical geography. Her responsibilities include providing GIS services for environmental investigation, permitting, and design projects. She also has experience in assisting with environmental investigations and remediation at hazardous and radioactive/mixed waste sites. She is a member of the New York State GIS Association and the Western New York GIS Users Group and holds a bachelor of arts in geography, natural, and social sciences from Buffalo State College.
