Sheerline Structural Engineering opens office in San Francisco

San Francisco — Sheerline Structural Engineering, a full-service structural engineering firm, located at 665 Third St, Suite 513, San Francisco, opened its doors for business April 1, 2014. The principal of the firm, Michael Hicks, has been in the structural engineering field for over 30 years.

Hicks has been involved in the design and project management of a wide variety of structures: historic, commercial, retail, mixed use, multi-unit residential, custom single-family residences, community buildings, and civic and transportation structures.

Some of Sheerline’s recent projects include:

  • “Butterfly House” — A 2,900-square-foot custom home by architect Jonathan Feldman; featured on the April 2014 cover of “Dwell “ magazine.
  • 580 Washington/700 Montgomery — A 33,000-square-foot adaptive reuse of two historic structures, into nine residential units, five commercial units, and office space.
  • Valley Village Retirement Community — Seismic retrofit of a five-story residential tower built of concrete and wood in 1964.
  • U.S. Coast Guard Narwhal Building — Design of new one-story Coast Guard operation support building slated to receive LEED Platinum, net zero classification.
