Shavon Charlot named president of SS&A Design Collective 

Kevin Childs assumes the role of vice president 

Montgomery, AL – SS&A Design Collective is pleased to announce Shavon Charlot, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, NCARB, has been named president. She officially assumed the role on November 16, 2024, upon the announcement of the forthcoming retirement of Bob Snider, PE, FHFI, CHC, LEED AP BD+C, principal, who served as president from 2008-2024. 

As president, Shavon manages the internal company operations, oversees the strategic vision, and ensures the firm fulfills its purpose as one of the top-ranked architecture-engineering firms in Alabama and the United States. Previously, Shavon held the role of vice president and director of architecture, among other roles throughout her 15 year-tenure in the firm. 

“I am excited to serve as SS&A’s president. To be trusted by the Board and talented team to lead the firm into the next chapter of its legacy is a great honor and responsibility – and one I don’t take lightly,” stated Shavon. “I look forward to building on a 79-year legacy of excellence, integrity, and good design, as the firm extends its geographic reach, diversifies its portfolio, and expands its client base, celebrating 80 years in business in 2026.” 

Other roles Shavon has held include project manager and architect, managing and designing healthcare and laboratory projects across the United States and in Asia. Ms. Charlot holds a Master of Architecture degree from Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana. 

As part of the leadership transition, Kevin Childs, AIA, LEED AP, assumed the role of vice president, which was previously held by Shavon and vacated when she moved into the role of president.
