Samuel Schwartz accepts 2012 Mid-Sized Business of the Year Award from the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce

NEW YORK – The transportation consulting company Sam Schwartz Engineering, PLLC (SSE) announced that it was awarded the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce’s (MCC) 2012 Mid-Size Business of the Year Award. Founder, President and Chief Executive Officer Samuel I. Schwartz P.E. accepted the award at the MCC Business Awards Breakfast on Jan. 31.

Postponed from its original November date due to Hurricane Sandy, the event attracted an impressive swath of New York’s business community leaders. Award presenters included City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, theater icon Daryl Roth, Hospitality leader (and last year’s New Yorker of the Year) Jonathan Tisch, and MetLife’s Managing Director Felix Malitsky.

SSE’s 2012 projects demonstrated comprehensive attention to all factors of urban mobility, from the September report produced with America Walks, Steps to a Walkable Community: A Guide for Citizens, Planners, and Engineers, to SSE Chicago’s “Streets for Cycling Plan,” one of Sierra Club’s 50 best projects of 2012, to Schwartz’ ‘Move New York’ plan for improving equity and circulation in New York transportation, presented at a MCC forum in December.

Among the over two dozen awards and distinctions SSE has received over the past few years include being named a "Best Place to Work" by CRAIN’s in 2011 and a “ZweigWhite Hot Firm” in 2012, and receiving four Engineering Excellence Awards from the American Council of Engineering Companies New York in 2012.
