Pond Recognized by American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia with the Engineering Excellence State Award

ATLANTA – (12.12.2019) – Pond, an industry leader in engineering, construction, architecture and planning services, is proud to be named a 2020 American Council of Engineering Companies of Georgia (ACEC Georgia) Engineering Excellence State Award winner for the work accomplished on the Samsung Electronics, Complex 3 Expansion in Newberry, South Carolina.

When Samsung needed to expand their existing home appliance manufacturing facility, they had to enlist a firm that could successfully navigate an aggressive project schedule and existing site obstacles. Pond’s all-inclusive approach to industrial engineering, architecture and construction management provided Samsung with the right mix of expertise.

Pond began working immediately on the $3.4 million, 340,000 square-foot complex to meet the aggressive  seven-month timeline. Pond’s integrated approach to design and engineering ran concurrently with construction operations to handle each phase of this difficult project. 

“The team involved in the process showed extreme dedication to the success of not only this project, but to the goals and values of our organization,” said Sanghoon Park, Samsung’s project director.  “We were consistently impressed by their coordinated efforts to meticulously design and construct with our manufacturing processes in mind.”

Pond exceeded the project expectations by promptly delivering the facility on-time, which allowed  Samsung to enhance production capacity and create new jobs for the surrounding South Carolina communities.

“This project has shown what teamwork, good communication, and a common commitment to success can accomplish,” said Pond’s Director of Structural Engineering, Mark Hanselman.

As a State Award winner, this Pond project is now eligible to win the ACEC National Engineering Excellence Awards competition, announced in Spring 2020. ACEC Georgia will recognize the winners at their annual ceremony on March 14th, 2020.
