Pennoni expands to Midwest with Chicago office

Chicago — Multidiscipline engineering, science, and design consulting firm Pennoni opened a new office location in Chicago, effective December 1, 2015. The office is led by Paul Barter, P.E., who recently joined Pennoni in October 2015. In this position, Barter is responsible for managing and developing the Chicago office and offering support to existing customers in the Midwest through the recruitment of regional staff and the launch of business development initiatives.

Barter previously worked as the senior vice president of global and high-performance buildings for Environmental Systems Design, Inc. in Chicago, and vice president of strategic initiatives at ExteNet Systems, Inc. in Lisle, Ill.

“Chicago is one of the largest cities in the United States,” said Pennoni’s Chief Operating Officer David DeLizza. “Its continued growth is something that we, as a leading design and engineering firm, want to be a part of. The city’s long history of innovation and hard work offers a number of opportunities, and with Paul’s entrepreneurial involvement in the region, we believe our expansion will be warmly welcomed.”

Barter earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Kansas and is an award-winning engineer and patent holder. Throughout his 28-year career in Chicago, he has developed high-performance teams in critical infrastructure bringing to market innovative products and services. He is a member of the International District Energy Association and the Consulting Electrical Engineers of Chicago.

“Pennoni has an outstanding reputation and significant market presence in the energy utilities and infrastructure markets,” Barter said. “By expanding our footprint to another world class city, Pennoni is responding directly to our client needs.”
