Oldcastle Infrastructure Announces Storm Drainage Project in Tampa, Florida

Project to equip downtown residents with custom flood-prevention framework

Tampa, FL, Jan. 6, 2020 – Oldcastle Infrastructure, A CRH Company, and one of North America’s largest manufacturers of utility products and construction accessories for the telecommunications, energy, transportation, building services and water markets, announces today the construction kick off of its latest undertaking in the heart of downtown Tampa, Florida. The storm drainage project will break ground at the intersection of North Boulevard and West Cass Street and is expected to span over two years.

Custom box culvert solutions created by Oldcastle Infrastructure will reduce current frequent flooding issues in downtown Tampa.

Leading up to the official start of construction, Oldcastle Infrastructure manufactured custom framework, supplying over 7,300 feet of box culvert pieces ranging in size from 8’x8′, 10’x7′, 10’x5′ and 6’x5′. In addition, the project will consist of storm structures, sanitary structures and other special project structures to better equip neighboring buildings and homes to reduce current frequent flooding issues. Once construction is complete, the overhaul will provide enhanced safety for pedestrians and vehicles.

“The goal of this project remains consistent with all of the work that we do: to provide the infrastructure that keeps communities connected and protected,” said Bob Simone, Precast Sales Executive of West/Central, FL for Oldcastle Infrastructure. “We’re looking forward to seeing how these structures better serve the residents of Tampa in the long term.”

A new 36-inch water transmission main will be constructed in order to better direct the underground transportation of water. In return, residents can anticipate reduced flooding in both residential and commercial areas of W. Cass Street, N. Rome Avenue, W. Gray Street as well as surrounding areas. The construction is expected to be completed in mid-2021, weather permitting.
