Veteran regional transportation leader brings 37 years of highway design experience to new role with the firm.

NASHVILLE — Michael Flatt has been named Tennessee transportation client services manager at WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy.

In his new role, Flatt will provide leadership for transportation business operations in the Nashville office and collaborate with the transportation community on multiple projects in the region, including the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT).

“Michael brings extensive experience in planning, design and construction to his new position at WSP,” said Pamela Townsend, WSP’s Southeast regional manager for transportation. “He will be a valuable member of our team, helping us maintain our existing strong relationships with transportation entities while furthering project development opportunities in the region.”

Flatt arrives at WSP with 37 years of engineering experience, most recently spending 23 years with a Nashville-based architectural and engineering firm. Prior to that, he served 14 years as a transportation manager with TDOT, where his responsibilities included quality assurance and certification for planning and design projects.

His portfolio of work is wide-ranging and spans across multiple disciplines of both TDOT and municipal projects. He led planning and design for interchanges, urban and rural interstates, complete streets, commuter rail, and construction engineering and inspection projects.

Flatt is a graduate of Tennessee Technological University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Public Works Association.
