McCarthy Announces Two Major New Hires for Heavy Civil Marine Industrial Group

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has hired Jonathan Schmaltz as Business Development Director for the Heavy Civil Marine Industrial Group. In his position, Schmaltz will be responsible for managing the heavy civil, marine and industrial marketing, client services and business development while also developing and maintaining relationships with clients. Schmaltz possesses strong ties to the local market and brings a depth of experience in both the public and private sectors. He will serve as an involved team member and key resource in continuing to help McCarthy become the best heavy civil marine industrial builder on the Texas Gulf Coast focused on core values of safety, quality, integrity and innovation.

Schmaltz brings more than 14 years of heavy civil marine industrial construction experience to McCarthy, working in positions of increasing responsibility in locations including Georgia, Central Florida, Louisiana and the Texas Gulf Coast.

In conjunction with his work with McCarthy and in Heavy Civil Marine Industrial construction, Schmaltz serves as Treasurer for the Western Dredge Association (WEDA) Gulf Coast Chapter, volunteers to assist the Gulf Coast Industrial Forum annually and is an active member in his community. Schmaltz earned his Bachelor of Science in Construction Science from Texas A&M University.

Condon Verble

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. has hired Condon Verble as General Superintendent for the Heavy Civil Marine Industrial Group. In this new role, Verble will be responsible for overall coordination, supervision and inspection of all field installations and will coordinate temporary jobsite facilities. Verble will also participate in finalizing master construction schedules and monthly schedule updates, develop short term schedule activities and provide field construction coordination, supervision and inspection including quality control for subcontractor and safety personnel.

Verble brings over 25 years of bridge, heavy civil and marine construction experience to McCarthy. He has worked in Houston for the past seven years and has familiarity with other regions across the country. Through this experience, Verble has strong communication, management and field level technical knowledge as well as the ability to take a project from conception and bidding, to punch-out and closeout.
