Mark Chen, AIA, leads LEO A DALY’s Atlanta design studio

ATLANTA – Mark Chen, AIA, has joined LEO A DALY to lead the firm’s Atlanta design studio as vice president and managing principal. In this role, he oversees design, operations and business strategy for the local studio, leveraging talent from across the global planning, architecture, engineering, and interiors firm to deliver world-class design services to clients.

Chen has 37 years of experience in the master planning and design of facilities in the U.S., Europe, and China, including mixed-use, healthcare and education projects. He has won numerous awards for his design work, including awards from the American Institute of Architects, Modern Healthcare magazine, the U.S. Air Force and the Harvard Architectural Forum. He has secured major projects including the Harrell Medical Education Building at the University of Florida, the master plan for the University of Rochester Medical Center, the corporate headquarters of InterContinental Exchange and Synovus Bank, Atlanta’s first new office building in five years.

Throughout his career, Chen has maintained a connection to academia. He has taught as an adjunct visiting professor at Syracuse University and at the New York Institute of Technology, where he taught design studio, thesis studio, and professional practice. He has been a guest critic at Cornell University, Rhode Island School of Design, Harvard University and Georgia Tech.

Chen joins LEO A DALY from HDR, where he served as design principal for the Atlanta and Charlotte offices. Previously, he was the director of design and senior vice president of Heery International.
