Machala to Lead Buildings Team for WSP USA in Houston

Jared Machala been designing science and technology facilities at WSP for education, government and private clients since joining the firm in 2003.  

HOUSTON  — Jared Machala has been promoted to managing director of property and buildings in the Houston office at WSP USA, a leading engineering and professional services consultancy.

Machala, a vice president, has been a design engineer and project manager since joining the firm 17 years ago. He is a science and technology facility expert, with extensive experience in biocontainment laboratories at universities, government institutions and private sector entities. In his new role, he will be responsible for the management, growth and development of the firm’s Houston office, as well as performance of WSP’s projects in the region.

He has designed numerous science and technology facilities throughout his career at WSP, including BSL-3, ABSL-3 and BSL-4 bio-containment facilities, clinical laboratories, research laboratories, petrochemical laboratories, clean rooms, cGMP facilities, radiochemistry laboratories and proton beam therapy centers.

His projects have included multiple laboratory and research facilities at Texas A&M University and the University of Texas; the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility in Manhattan, Kansas; projects for the Texas Biomedical Research Institute; and proton beam therapy centers for international projects in Saudi Arabia and England.

Machala, who has spent his entire engineering career with WSP, is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering with a minor in mathematics. He is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council and the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying.
