Kleinfelder acquires Alberta-based Hood Group

Edmonton, Alberta and San Diego — Kleinfelder acquired Hood Engineering & Technical Services (aka Hood Group), an Alberta-based, privately owned organization providing engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) services to clients primarily in oil and gas, petrochemical and manufacturing industries. The transaction closed on July 8, 2014.

The combination of Kleinfelder and Hood Group brings together complementary strengths to create a unique, full-service engineering, architecture, and environmental-consulting firm with extensive EPCM capabilities.

The entirety of Hood Group’s staff are now Kleinfelder employees and will continue to work at their existing offices as part of Kleinfelder Canada, Inc.

Kleinfelder has been executing a strategic growth plan since 2010, of which expanding services specific to the oil and gas, petrochemical and manufacturing markets – both organically and through acquisitions – has played a key role. Since 2010, the company has made 11 key acquisitions in the United States and Australia, and opened an office in Calgary in support of multinational clients.
