J.L. Patterson & Associates to assist David Evans and Associates with design services

PORTLAND, ORE. – J.L. Patterson & Associates Inc. (JLP) and David Evans and Associates Inc. have announced they will be providing engineering design management, track design, and structures design services for the Oregon Department of Transportation’s High Speed Intercity Passenger Rail Project (HSIPRP). The scope of work includes National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and Preliminary Engineering Services (PE).

The project will provide improvements to the Oregon segment of the Pacific Northwest Rail Corridor (PNWRC), for high speed intercity passenger rail service between Portland and Eugene. The proposed improvements will increase roundtrips, on-time performance, and average operating speeds, and will reduce trip time and carbon emissions.

“This is a strategic and exciting project for JLP to be involved in. This project will improve both passenger and freight rail service, and will position the region on the ‘High Speed Rail’ map nationwide," said Sam Mansour, P.E., vice president of JLP and the proposed design manager.

The project is being financed with funds from the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which allocated $8 billion to jumpstart the development of improved high-speed intercity passenger rail service in the United States.
