ISI reaches milestone of 500 credentialed ENV SPs

 WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) announced that it has reached its first credentialing milestone with more than 500 Envision Sustainability Professionals who have been certified in the use of the Envision Sustainable Infrastructure Rating System. These Envision Sustainability Professionals (ENV SPs) work together with project design teams to provide technical expertise and guide the team on ways of improving the sustainability metrics of projects. Over 300 companies, public agencies, and universities are represented by this initial group of ENV SPs, and public sector individuals account for about a third of those credentialed. ISI expects there are another 1000 ENV SPs in the making within other sustainability-committed organizations.

Infrastructure owners are seeking ways of meeting their sustainability goals and also creating public confidence in the process of civil infrastructure development. Envision meets this need as an in-depth planning guide and rating system used to improve the sustainability aspects of infrastructure projects. It is applicable to all types, sizes and complexities of civil and private infrastructure, and is already providing useful sustainability ratings in infrastructure projects such as stormwater management, roads, watershed projects, water and wastewater, airports, and rail systems.

In 2012, ISI launched Envision as a new comprehensive sustainable infrastructure system to assist planners, designers, owners and builders to plan, construct, operate and rate infrastructure to increasing levels of sustainability and resource efficiency. An ENV Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) is an ISI credentialed practitioner who is trained to use the Envision sustainable infrastructure rating system as a guide to address triple bottom line sustainability dimensions in the design, construction, and operation of an infrastructure project.
