ICC-ES report holders comply with 2012 I-Codes

Revisions to the 2012 I-Codes are prompting numerous ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) report holders to update their ICC-ES evaluation reports and listings. Not only will this allow the manufacturers to hold evaluation reports and PMG listings that are compliant to the most recent codes, but it will also provide code officials, designers, architects, engineers and others in the building industry with products they feel confident in approving or specifying.

“We are here to serve the needs of the manufacturers using the most expeditious means possible, while still maintaining our high technical standards,” said Mark Johnson, ICC-ES President. “Helping our clients as well as code officials and others in the industry is our primary goal,” Johnson added.

Some of the major product areas that are affected include categories such as water-resistive barriers and thermal insulation, modifications to Appendix D of ACI 318, and more. In addition, several ICC-ES Acceptance Criteria will be updated to comply with the 2012 revisions, including AC04 (Acceptance Criteria for Sandwich Panels), AC13 (Acceptance Criteria for Joist Hangers and Similar Devices), AC38 (Acceptance Criteria for Water-Resistive Barriers) and AC174 (Acceptance Criteria for Deck Board Span Ratings and Guardrail Systems).

Not only are building product codes changing, but PMG product code requirements have undergone significant changes as well. The 2012 International Plumbing Code® (IPC) states that all plumbing products and materials are now required to be listed by a third party certification agency. The ICC-ES PMG Program offers a full range of certification activities for both the U.S. and Canadian regions. ICC-ES PMG can certify your products to AB1953, Annex G of NSF/ANSI 61, S.3874 (Federal Law for Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water) and the requirements of WaterSense at no additional cost to your listing.
