Oakland, Calif. — HNTB Corporation, an infrastructure solutions firm, is celebrating 100 years in business, and will host Bay Area transportation leaders at a private kick-off event on April 24 at its Downtown Oakland office to commemorate the milestone anniversary.

Since 1914, HNTB has worked on numerous high-profile transportation infrastructure projects in California. Among its major accomplishments, the firm designed several replacement bridges for Caltrans in Oakland that had collapsed during the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake and worked on the Golden Gate Bridge Seismic Retrofit Project. Recent projects include the Bay Area Rapid Transit extension line to San Francisco International Airport, the SFO Control Tower, the BART Warm Springs Extension, the Devil’s Slide Tunnels on U.S. Highway 1 near Pacifica, Calif., and the Presidio Parkway project in San Francisco. The firm is currently working on Levi’s Stadium, the future home of the San Francisco 49ers, in Santa Clara, Calif.

“For 100 years, HNTB has been committed to developing infrastructure solutions that improve the daily lives of those who live and work in our local communities,” said Darlene K. Gee, P.E., vice president and HNTB Northern California office leader, a 30-year resident of the Bay Area. “As we expand our services in Northern California, we look forward to continuing to partner with our clients and local communities to help solve the region’s transportation demands.”

HNTB has also been an active member in the communities it serves in Northern California, beyond its business projects. The firm has recently received several official commendations from local government agencies and leaders in recognition of its centennial, including a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Congressman Eric Swalwell, a Certificate of Recognition from the Alameda County Transportation Commission and a Letter of Recognition from the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. Earlier this year, the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors presented a resolution proclaiming Jan. 28, 2014, as “HNTB Corporation Day.”

Across the country, HNTB has built a reputation as a trusted consultant to public agencies, toll authorities and the financial community. HNTB’s contributions can be seen among the largest, most iconic and complex bridges, highways, airports, public buildings and public works projects across the country. With roots in the design of innovative railroad bridges, the firm’s capabilities have grown to include a full range of infrastructure-related services, including planning, design, program delivery and construction management.
