HNTB names corporate president

Kansas City, Mo. — Thomas O’Grady, P.E., has been named to the new role of HNTB corporate president. O’Grady most recently served as Central Division president and has held numerous positions throughout his 23-year tenure with the firm, including Houston office leader and south central district leader.

Based in Kansas City, O’Grady reports directly to CEO Rob Slimp and will ensure HNTB continues its long history of outstanding project and profitable operating performance. He will confirm the firm’s best processes, organization and resources are in place to support consistently outstanding, high-quality delivery to the firm’s clients. O’Grady’s focus in this area will complement the firm’s ongoing focus on driving growth of the organization across the United States. O’Grady also has been elected a director of HNTB’s board.

“As Tom continues his service to the firm as corporate president, his dedication and sense of commitment, coupled with client and industry relationships, will contribute to our success on a national scale as we work to improve our country’s infrastructure,” Slimp said.

As Central Division president for seven years, O’Grady was responsible for all aspects of business across 11 states, including overseeing strategic plans, sales, project delivery and overall profitability. His experience in civil engineering includes extensive involvement with transportation planning and final design projects throughout the central and southwestern United States, working with multiple state departments of transportation, toll authorities, transit agencies, airports, counties and municipalities.

O’Grady’s professional affiliations include the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Council of Engineering Companies, Civic Council of Kansas City and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, among others. He earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in civil engineering from Vanderbilt University.
