HNTB names Albert Sosa office leader in Chicago

Industry veteran will be responsible for growing HNTB’s presence across the region

CHICAGO – HNTB Corporation has named Albert Sosa, PE, an industry veteran with 25 years of leadership in transportation and infrastructure, to head the firm’s Chicago office. Through previous roles in both public and private sectors, Sosa brings a deep history of developing stakeholder relationships and creating an understanding of client projects to enhance community support.

Sosa most recently served as program director of HNTB’s general engineering consultant contract with the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority. In this capacity he managed the development and delivery of a $1 billion program that included numerous alternative delivery projects. Throughout his 15 years with HNTB, Sosa has contributed to winning and delivering large-scale program management and construction management projects.

Sosa has supported multiple HNTB project teams throughout the country on transit, toll road, aviation and construction services projects affording him a multi-discipline perspective on infrastructure solutions. In addition, he served as Miami office leader for two years.

“Albert’s record of accomplishments and proven leadership experience will bring incredible value to our Chicago office,” said Chris Gale, PE, president of HNTB’s Great Lakes Division. “His success as both a coach and mentor in our industry shows he leads by example, and his involvement in both civic and community organizations shows a deep commitment to building relationships with clients and the public.”

Sosa earned his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from the University of Miami, and a Master of Science in economics from Florida Atlantic University.

HNTB works on some of the Chicago area’s most significant transportation projects, serving as program manager for the Illinois Tollway, civil lead and tunnel designer for the O’Hare Airport Terminal expansion project, program manager for Chicago Transit Authority’s Red Line Extension and designer of the Navy Pier Flyover pedestrian bridge on the Lake Front Trail.
