HNTB announces Marcus Geist as Oklahoma practice leader

Accomplished infrastructure expert and proven leader with deep local insights to expand opportunities and drive growth

OKLAHOMA CITY – HNTB is proud to announce the appointment of Marcus Geist, PE, as Oklahoma practice leader. Geist will oversee HNTB’s operations and project delivery, furthering the firm’s commitment to delivering high-quality transportation infrastructure solutions across the region and building on the success of local leaders such as Steven Jacobi and Mike Patterson.

“Marcus is an outstanding leader with extensive experience in transportation design and operations management,” said Gretchen Ivy, PE, HNTB’s Central States office leader and senior vice president. “His deep understanding of both rural and urban infrastructure projects makes him the ideal person to lead our efforts in Oklahoma and deliver on our clients’ vision.”

In this role, Geist will focus on managing and expanding the firm’s portfolio of projects, which includes highways, toll roads, bridges, aviation, sports architecture and transit initiatives. His team will continue to work closely with clients such as the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and local municipalities and transit authorities to deliver innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions that meet the region’s growing needs.

Geist, who has been with HNTB for 15 years, has contributed significantly to the firm’s success by managing numerous transportation projects, including projects within the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority’s expansion program known as ACCESS and their conversions to all-electronic tolling, the U.S. 412 corridor study and the U.S. 69 corridor widening through Tushka and Atoka, among others.

Geist earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Kansas State University and is a registered professional engineer in Oklahoma. He is actively engaged in the community through his involvement with the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), Oklahoma Open for Business and the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA).
