HDR receives top hydropower honor

Washington, D.C. — HDR was honored with the National Hydropower Association Presidents Award at the organization's annual Waterpower Week conference that was recently held in Washington. According to NHA President John McCormick, "The President's Award recognizes a company that has the foresight to establish a new vision, forges new paths, demonstrates perseverance in overcoming major obstacles and exhibits a sense of responsibility as ambassadors on behalf of the hydro industry."

HDR's dedication in working with the NHA and the Department of Energy on the DOE's Hydropower Vision Report (https://energy.gov/eere/water/new-vision-united-states-hydropower) led us to receive the honor in which Hydropower Managing Principal Dave Culligan served as the collaborative link between the two organizations and the hydropower industry. Culligan worked with key partners across the hydropower industry to help the DOE set forth a vision for the future of the industry. The vision will set an analytical basis for mapping out new growth in sustainable U.S. hydropower for the next 50 years.

Rick Miller, HDR's national director of hydropower and this year's recipient of hydropower's top individual honor, the Dr. Kenneth Henwood Award, also played a critical role as part of a nominated senior peer review group that helped guide the effort.
