HCSS Announces New HeavyJob Feature for Enhanced Change Order Tracking

New Potential Change Orders functionality streamlines budgeting and billing for horizontal construction projects

SUGAR LAND, Texas — HCSS, the leading software provider for heavy civil construction businesses, is excited to announce a new feature for its HeavyJob product, designed to revolutionize how civil and infrastructure contractors manage potential change orders (PCOs). Launched in July 2024, this addition to HeavyJob will streamline the process of tracking and managing change orders, ensuring accurate budgeting and billing, and improving overall project profitability.

HeavyJob’s new PCO feature is specifically tailored for civil and infrastructure construction and will allow users to track all change items in one centralized location. Contractors in this market often deal with unique requirements for change orders from the project owner, making change order tracking a critical function of construction project management. The integrated issue escalation functionality enables customers to initiate or escalate issues or scope changes, facilitating review by all project stakeholders.

For project managers, this new feature provides enhanced control over project costs by tracking out-of-scope changes and requesting payment for work beyond the contract. Owners and executives will benefit from improved awareness of project health and margins, enabling them to make informed business decisions. Foremen will find it easier to communicate potential out-of-scope work from the field to the office team by raising issues directly in the HCSS Field App, ensuring timely and accurate documentation. Project Managers can review issues and, if necessary, create RFI’s for project owners, linking those documents to the Potential Change Orders when needed.

The Potential Change Orders release in HeavyJob represents a significant value-add for HCSS customers and improves tracking and payment for project scope changes. HCSS empowers users to maintain tighter control over project costs and profitability by providing a robust and centralized system for managing change orders. This new feature underscores HCSS’s commitment to innovation and its dedication to meeting the specific needs of the civil and infrastructure construction industry.
