Hatch Mott MacDonald wins 2014 Be Inspired Award from Bentley Systems

ISELIN, N.J. – Hatch Mott MacDonald has been chosen as a winner of a Bentley Systems’ Be Inspired award.

HMM received the award for Innovation in Rail and Transit, for its “Intelligent Rail Signal Design via 2D Schematics and 3D Models” project. The awards honor the extraordinary work of Bentley users in improving the world’s infrastructure.

Nick DeNichilo, president and CEO of Hatch Mott MacDonald, said, “This new system has the flexibility to react relatively easily to changes in scope and design. We look forward to applying these advanced techniques to upcoming projects.”

The project involved a new system being developed to introduce intelligence into conventional rail signal design. Incorporating this intelligence with a single database significantly reduces design times while improving accuracy, and enables standardization. The program also builds a relationship between the intelligent 3D models and the 2D schematics required for signal design.
