Hatch Mott MacDonald-led team to provide engineering, design and permitting services for Northeast Energy Direct Project

Iselin, N.J. — Hatch Mott MacDonald was selected by Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company, L.L.C., a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P., to lead a regional team that will provide engineering, design and permitting services for TGP’s proposed Northeast Energy Direct Project. The Project includes interstate natural gas transmission pipelines, crossing parts of Pennsylvania, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire, as well as new and upgraded compression facilities and related infrastructure.

Hatch Mott MacDonald will lead the project from its Holyoke, Mass., office, with support from its offices in Westwood, Mass., New York, Pennsylvania and other regional locations. The team draws on the experience of many locally based firms to provide environmental assessment and permitting services. AECOM Technical Services, Inc. will lead the environmental permitting and utilize resources from its offices in Chelmsford, Mass., Horsham, Pa. and Latham, N.Y., as well as other regional locations. The team will receive support from other local firms including Epsilon Associates (Maynard, Mass.), Normandeau Associates (Bedford, N.H., Falmouth, Mass., and West Haverstraw, N.Y.), Oxbow Associates (Boxborough, Mass.) and the Louis Berger Group (Needham, Mass. and Albany, N.Y.).

The proposed Pennsylvania to Wright, N.Y., portion of the project includes the construction of approximately 135 miles of pipeline from the existing TGP line in Susquehanna County, Pa., northeast to the existing TGP line in Schoharie County, N.Y. The project also includes the construction of 23-mile and 9-mile loops along the existing TGP line in Bradford and Susquehanna counties in Pennsylvania. This will include the upgrade of an existing compressor station in Susquehanna County and construction of two new compressor stations, one in Delaware County, N.Y., and one in Schoharie County.

The proposed Wright, N.Y., to Dracut, Mass., segment would result in the construction of approximately 179 miles of pipeline, additional meter stations and compressor stations, and modifications to existing facilities in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire.
