MILLBURN, N.J. — Hatch Mott MacDonald acquired Gibson Engineers, PC, an engineering firm located in Fuquay-Varina, N.C., and Richard P. Arber Associates, an award-winning professional consulting engineering firm located in Lakewood, Colo.

Gibson Engineers’ practice is focused on transportation infrastructure, with the firm best known for its capabilities in highway design, rail design, traffic engineering, and transportation planning. Gibson Engineers will strengthen Hatch Mott MacDonald’s transportation engineering practice in the southeastern states, where the firm has an established water, wastewater, and transportation practice.

“We plan to expand the infrastructure services being offered from the Gibson location, thereby enabling Hatch Mott MacDonald to provide continuous geographic coverage for East Coast projects,” said Nicholas DeNichilo, president and CEO of Hatch Mott MacDonald. “Our expanding rail and highway business in the East can effectively utilize the expertise and resources provided by Gibson. Our office locations along the U.S. eastern seaboard provide an excellent geographic platform from which Gibson’s transportation expertise can be leveraged.”

Arber Associates’ practice is focused on water, wastewater, and water re-use engineering services. The firm has completed a number of high-technology, state-of-the-art projects for clients within Colorado, and throughout the western United States. Arber Associates will strengthen Hatch Mott MacDonald’s water, wastewater, and water re-use practice in the western United States, adding to the considerable expertise offered by the firm.

“Arber will provide a further gateway by which HMM intends to expand its water and wastewater practice to the western U.S.,” DeNichilo said. “The firm’s track record of providing quality infrastructure services to National Park facilities throughout the West also complements our current initiative to expand market share among federal clients.”
