Gannett Fleming—s Baltimore office wins engineering firm of the year award

BALTIMORE, MD. — The Engineering Society of Baltimore honored Gannett Fleming’s Baltimore, Md., office with the inaugural Engineering Society of Baltimore’s Engineering/Construction Firm of the Year Award for 2010.

The Baltimore Post of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) nominated Gannett Fleming for this award. The nomination was graded by the Baltimore Engineers Week Council on four criteria, including professional experience, support for professional and technical societies, support for professional development, and civic activities. The firm’s notable 2010 projects highlighted for this award were:

•Conowingo Hydroelectric Dam Visitor’s Center and Fisherman’s Park in Darlington, Md.
•Union Dam demolition and stream restoration in Howard and Baltimore counties, Md.
•U.S. Botanic Garden Conservatory garden site design in Washington, D.C.
•Chesapeake Avenue rehabilitation in Baltimore
•Towson Reservoir cover design and construction management in Towson, Md.
•North Post access control point in Fort Belvoir, Va.
