GAI Consultants’ Sievers receives ASHE National Lifetime Achievement Award

Orlando, Fla. — GAI Consultants (GAI) announced that Senior Engineering Manager and former Senior Vice President Jeffrey M. “Rusty” Sievers, P.E., received the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Highway Engineers (ASHE). The ASHE Lifetime Achievement Award was established to recognize an ASHE member who has supported the organization and made other notable achievements throughout their career.

The award was presented to Sievers on May 21 at the 2016 ASHE National Conference in Pittsburgh. Sievers’ nomination for the Lifetime Achievement Award was submitted to the ASHE National Board by the ASHE Central Florida Section.

Sievers has nearly 50 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of transportation and site development projects. He joined GAI in 1990 and specializes in providing engineering and planning support and expert witness services to appraisers and attorneys on the acquisition of property (eminent domain) for transportation projects. He was promoted to Senior Vice President and manager of the Orlando office in 2003, and shortly after was promoted to Chief Operations Officer/Executive Vice President, responsible for eight GAI offices in six states.

In 2009, Sievers became the Regional Manager of GAI’s Southeast operations, and in 2013, he was appointed operations manager for GAI’s Transportation Business Unit. Today, he juggles family life while staying active in his profession by serving as a Senior Engineering Manager in a semi-retired capacity.

Sievers is involved in many professional organizations, including the American Society of Highway Engineers, where he has served as President (1995-1996), Director (1993-1995, 2009-2012), Regional Director (1998-2000), Treasurer (2000-2002), and Chairman of the History and By-Laws Committee (2000-2015). He holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University, Indiana.
