FREESE AND NICHOLS ADDS SENIOR DAM AND WATER RESOURCE ENGINEER ROGER KITCHIN IN HOUSTON

HOUSTON  Freese and Nichols, Inc., has added Roger Kitchin, PE, an accomplished engineer with more than 40 years of international experience, to our Water Resource Design division in Houston as a Senior Engineer. He will be a valuable addition as we expand services related to dams and complex flood control structures and systems for clients across southeast Texas and Louisiana.

Kitchin, a native of the United Kingdom, worked in Canada for 24 years before moving to the United States in 2001. He has been a recognized leader on dozens of water-related projects in North and South America, Europe, Southeast Asia and the Caribbean totaling more than $1 billion in construction value.

His multifaceted experience includes new and rehabilitation dam engineering, dam safety, emergency action plans, pump stations, water/wastewater, hydrology and hydraulics, irrigation and drainage. He is known for adopting innovative approaches to developing cost-effective solutions.

“With his extensive knowledge and international perspective, Roger will be able to help our team generate unique solutions for our clients’ complex needs,” said Cody Cockroft, Group Manager for the Water Resource Design Southeast Division. “As we continue to refine and improve the services we offer our clients, we can learn from the diversity of applications and approaches he has implemented and evaluated during his work across the globe.”

Kitchin is registered as a Professional Engineer in Washington State, Oregon, Nevada, Alaska and Alberta, Canada. He received an MBA from the University of Calgary and a bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom.
