FREESE AND NICHOLS ADDS GREGG HUDOCK TO LEAD WATER RESOURCE PROJECTS IN SOUTHEAST U.S.

Freese and Nichols, Inc., welcomes Gregg Hudock, PE, as leader of the firm’s water resource design team in Georgia. A skilled dam engineer and solutions-oriented integrator of all the dam-related technical practice areas, he can help clients address dam safety issues, water supply needs and flood-impact mitigation.

Hudock has a broad range of expertise in dams for water supply, flood control, recreation and industrial use. His more than 25 years of experience includes projects across the U.S. and internationally on multiple continents, and he knows all facets of a dam project: initial inspection, planning, permitting, investigation, detailed design, construction and monitoring.

He has led a range of projects to help communities cope with challenges such as long-term drought, aging dam infrastructure, hazard creep in rapidly developing areas and flood protection. With an understanding that public safety is at the core of dam engineering, Hudock has worked on the investigation, design or construction of more than 50 dams, with a particular focus in Georgia. He has handled projects for federal and state agencies, power companies and local municipalities. He also has expertise in the application of roller-compacted concrete for dams and other water retaining structures.

“Gregg’s ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and integrate many elements of flood control and water supply projects comes from his understanding of both the water resource and geotechnical aspects of inspecting, designing, permitting, rehabilitating and building dams and other heavy civil infrastructure,” said Victor Vasquez, manager of Freese and Nichols’ Water Resource Design Group.

“Gregg fits perfectly with Freese and Nichols’ mission and vision: He has a passion for serving the community, helping clients achieve their goals, and advancing the profession, combined with his ability to communicate and collaborate with large teams. We are very excited to have Gregg on our team.”

Hudock received his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He also graduated from the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership.

He is a member of the Association of State Dam Safety Officials, the U.S. Society on Dams and the National Watershed Coalition.
