FIDIC honors Hatch Mott MacDonalds Beacon Hill Station and Tunnels Project as International Project of the Year

Iselin, N.J. — The International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) honored Hatch Mott MacDonald for its role in Central Link Section 710: Beacon Hill Station and Tunnels. FIDIC recognized the Central Link project as one of six Outstanding Projects of 2014, one of only two located in the U.S.

The award was presented on Sept. 30 at the Gala Dinner & FIDIC Awards Ceremony, held at the Belmond Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro. HMM’s corporate parent Mott MacDonald also received an Award of Merit for its Cleaner Seas for Sussex project, the only Award of Merit given for a project in the United Kingdom.

Since 2000, Sound Transit of Seattle has retained HMM to design various aspects of its Central Link (www.hatchmott.com/projects/sound-transit-central-link) light rail system, including the Beacon Hill Station and Tunnels (www.hatchmott.com/projects/beacon-hill-station-and-tunnels). Previous awards for the Beacon Hill project have included the 2010 Engineering Excellence Grand Award (American Council of Engineering Companies) and the 2009 Engineering Excellence Award (Consulting Engineers of British Columbia).
