Fibersmith, a provider of engineering, fiber network design, and software services for telecommunications providers across the country, has acquired Ahneman Kirby, a Connecticut- based civil and structural engineering firm.

The acquisition combines decades of experience from both companies, expanding an already vast portfolio of services to more areas, as well as creating innovation opportunities and expanding infrastructure.

“We’re incredibly excited about welcoming Ahneman Kirby to our team,” said Donny Smith, Fibersmith CEO. “The industry is rapidly changing, and companies need to evolve to meet the explosive demand. This move will broaden the services we provide, helping clients expand broadband access nationwide even faster.”

As the companies integrate, employees will have the ability to participate in cross- training opportunities to expand their skillsets. The addition of civil and structural engineering to Fibersmith’s service offerings will also create new opportunities and better efficiencies for the telecom industry.

“Ahneman Kirby has built a reputation over the past 150 years as a reliable, client- focused firm dedicated to our customers’ success,” said Tom Ahneman, Ahneman Kirby CEO. “It naturally made sense to partner with a company like Fibersmith, who shares many of our values, in order to extend our capabilities even further.”
