Eric Celia joins HNTB as project director

Previously led NYSDOT’s Project Management Office and Design Build Office

ALBANY, N.Y.  – Eric Celia, PE, joined HNTB Corporation as project director and vice president. His career in transportation spans more than three decades and includes multiple leadership positions within the New York State Department of Transportation. Celia is based in the firm’s Albany office.

In this new role, Celia serves as a strategic advisor to teams throughout the division, and together they help drive growth and deliver outstanding client service. He is responsible for further strengthening HNTB’s design-build presence in the region.

In his most recent role as director of NYSDOT’s Project Management Office and Design Build Office, Celia was responsible for project management standards, policies and practices associated with the delivery of NYSDOT’s Capital Program. He also served as the program director for NYSDOT’s multi-billion-dollar Alternative Project Delivery Program, which successfully transformed the state’s design-build and best value procedures and serves as a New York State model for alternative delivery. Earlier in his career with NYSDOT, he held other leadership positions, including director of claims in the Office of Legal Affairs and NYSDOT’s Region 2 construction group.

Celia received a Bachelor of Science in civil and environmental engineering from Clarkson University. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers; New York State Association of Transportation Engineers; and the Project Management Institute of America. He is a Licensed Professional Engineer in New York State.
