Dewberry selected for Garden State Parkway contract

Fairfax, Va. — The New Jersey Turnpike Authority selected Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm with offices in Bloomfield and Parsippany, N.J., to provide supervision of construction services for bridge repairs and resurfacing to the Garden State Parkway (GSP) from milepost 126 to 172 in Middlesex, Union, Essex, Passaic, and Bergen Counties.

The repairs to the GSP include the implementation of lane shifts and nightly lane closings, high intensity construction cycles, partial depth concrete spall repairs, deck joint reconstruction, bridge parapet replacement, structural steel repairs, bearing replacement with laminated elastomeric bearings, and concrete beam repairs. The existing asphalt wearing surface will be removed and replaced with a new membrane waterproofing/asphalt system, as well as substructure waterproofing, electrical work, utility coordination, and pavement striping.

Dewberry services include compliance checking with contract plans and specifications, verification of approved materials, as well as other engineering services. The firm will coordinate with outside agencies and local townships for maintenance and the protection of traffic on the GSP and local roads, and emergency and routine repairs.
