David Evans and Associates, Inc. and Triad announce merger

Portland, Ore. — David Evans and Associates, Inc. (DEA), a professional services consulting firm of more than 950 people headquartered in Portland, Ore., expanded its presence in the Pacific Northwest by merging with Triad, a 50-person, multidisciplinary design firm headquartered in Woodinville, Wash. Upon closing the transaction on July 31, 2015, Triad became a division of David Evans and Associates, Inc.

DEA Chairman and CEO Dr. Al Barkouli, P.E., said, “The merger with Triad will substantially increase DEA’s presence in Puget Sound and provide clear benefits to our clients, employees, and shareholders. Triad’s outstanding reputation, excellent client relationships and talented staff enable us to offer our clients an expanded and comprehensive suite of consulting services.”

Triad President Jeff Cox, ASLA, said, “When considering this opportunity, we really focused on how our two companies’ core values align, and it’s clear to me this is a great fit. There are a lot of similarities, especially when it comes to how each company values its clients and honors its employees. The merger will allow Triad’s clients to benefit from expanded services and resources – both regionally and nationally. Our project teams are looking forward to being part of a five-office, Puget Sound-area DEA team. By being part of a larger talent pool, our teams will be able to collaborate on a wider variety of projects and offer expanded services. We’ll be stronger together.”

For more than 40 years, Triad has earned an impressive reputation for producing high-quality solutions for a variety of project types around the Pacific Northwest. The experienced civil engineers, surveyors, planners and landscape architects combine best practices with creative thinking to enhance the built environment. Triad delivers design excellence for both private- and public-sector clients by working with many of the region’s premier architecture and engineering firms, homebuilders, general contractors, real-estate companies, and on behalf of private-property owners, counties and cities.

For more than 35 years, DEA has provided clients with unique and innovative design services for transportation, water, land, energy and marine infrastructure systems. The firm’s staff includes engineers, surveyors, hydrographers, planners, landscape architects and natural resources scientists. DEA has 25 offices nationwide and employs more than 950 people.
