The recent purchase of the reputable, longstanding engineering firm marks expansion and multifaceted support for property owners

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Central Ohio property management firm RL Property Management Group announced it has acquired Criterium-Liszkay Engineers, the oldest engineering firm in the Central Ohio area, specializing in home and building inspections.

Founded in 1970, Gahanna-based Criterium-Liszkay Engineers is the oldest engineering firm in the area staffed by licensed professional engineers specializing in pre-purchase building inspections. Don Liszkay, Professional Engineer, purchased the company in 1996 from the founder, Dick Whitem. Within 25 years, Liszkay expanded company services to include commercial building inspections, condo and homeowner association reserve, and transition studies, as well as other real estate-related engineering services. Since its founding, the firm has evaluated over 60,000 buildings throughout Central Ohio.

“We’re excited to expand our real estate services in Central Ohio with the purchase of Criterium-Liszkay,” shared Adam Rich, Professional Engineer and co-owner of RL Property Management Group. “Mr. Liszkay developed a strong team of talented professionals under his leadership and a long history of technical excellence and client service.”

The addition of Criterium-Liszkay also brings changes to the organizational structure of RL Property Management. Rich, a civil and structural licensed professional engineer, will serve as the third owner and president in the company’s history, while partner Peter Lohmann will remain as CEO of RL Property Management Group.

“This was a natural fit,” added Lohmann, CEO of RL Property Management Group. “Not only is this a reputable, local business, but this expansion allows us to help clients and the general public with structural engineering needs with any type of property.”

Rich and Lohmann have served renters and property owners since 2013, but with backgrounds in civil and electrical engineering, respectively, the acquisition of Criterium-Liszkay also marks a return to their roots.

“I wanted to leave the company with someone who would be able to sustain and grow the business, added Don Liszkay, former owner of Criterium-Liszkay. “ Adam is a quality engineer with great business sense. Paired with his understanding of real estate, I’m confident they will do just that.”
