Washington, D.C. — Cardno has been recognized by the Built by Women District of Columbia (BxW DC) for excellence in the structural design of Tysons Tower, Va., as one of the most outstanding commercial buildings in the Washington, D.C., region.

Affiliated with the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation, BxW DC brings attention to buildings and structures designed or constructed by women.

Cardno Haynes Whaley’s Larisa Ramich and Julia Jiang provided structural design services on the 22-story office tower above a seven-level parking podium. Tysons Tower team members also include Gensler architectural Principal/Project Manager Theresa Sheils and Technical Designer Jillian Tillery.

Larisa, a LEED Accredited Professional, has more than 20 years of experience providing structural analysis and design services for a broad range of commercial, residential, and institutional building projects using various structural systems, including structural steel, cast-in-place concrete, precast concrete, masonry, and wood systems.

Julia has more than 18 years of experience producing complex Building Information Models (BIM) to support the design of structural systems for all building types using Revit and AutoCAD to aid in coordination, construction, and 3D Visualization with other disciplines.

Tysons Tower will be honored during an exhibit of all the winning projects at the National Building Museum in Washington, DC on March 19-20 and will be included in materials that highlight the contributions of women to the A/E/C industry in the Washington, DC region.
