BRIDGEFARMER WELCOMES THE NEW YEAR CELEBRATING 45 YEARS AND ANNOUNCES THE PROMOTION OF BRIAN WRIGHT, PE AND STEPHEN SMILEY, PE

Dallas, Texas – Bridgefarmer & Associates, Inc., an award-winning civil engineering firm based in Dallas, founded in 1976, is celebrating its 45-year anniversary focusing on the greater economic agenda in the much anticipated $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill signed by the President.  The infrastructure bill includes bridges and roads expansion and improvements across America’s transportation system over the next five years.  In preparation for the highly regarded bill, Bridgefarmer is proud to announce it has promoted Stephen Smiley, PE and Brian Wright, PE, in which Wright will lead Bridgefarmer’s Austin office.

 Stephen T. Smiley, PE

Smiley is a veteran of 26 years in the industry, and has served over 20 years with Bridgefarmer & Associates, Inc.  A former consultant at TxDOT Dallas District he has solid experience in concrete and steel highway bridges to culverts for highways and railroads. Smiley oversees as engineer of record on bridges from off-system creek crossings to 5-level interchanges and has designed integrated systems of simple and continuous concrete and steel bridges including retaining walls for staged construction.  Smiley’s daily responsibilities include layout and design of highway and railroad bridges; widening, replacements and repairs of existing bridges; design culverts, retaining walls and special structures. He has extensive experience in the design and detailing of slabs, beams, abutments, bents, columns, and foundations.  Smiley earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering degree at Texas A&M University.  He is currently licensed in the states of Texas and Arkansas.

Brian Wright, PE

Wright has 13 years of transportation engineering experience, including projects partnering with TxDOT, NTTA, design-build contractors, and municipalities. Wright’s 12-year tenure with Bridgefarmer includes developing roadway and traffic control PS&E and schematic designs for freeway, interchanges, intersections, and arterial roadway projects. Wright has performed project management duties, including project scope and schedule preparation, fee development and contract negotiation, invoicing, budget maintenance, and subconsultant management.  Wright earned his Civil Engineering degree graduating with honors from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX and was the recipient of the TAMU Academic Excellence Award Scholarship and Distinguished Student Award from Dwight Look College of Engineering.  He is currently licensed in the states of Texas and Georgia.
