Brian Weinstein joins Stantec as firm grows its Federal Programs team and defense ports and maritime practice

Honolulu, HI (January 13, 2021) NYSE, TSX: STN

Brian Weinstein has joined Stantec—a global engineering, architecture, and consulting firm—as senior principal and leader of the firm’s defense ports and maritime practice. Weinstein will work from Stantec’s Honolulu office, overseeing major Federal and Commercial programs and projects across the Asia Pacific region and North America. Weinstein’s hire demonstrates the firm’s commitment to building a strong Federal and Commercial leadership team in the Asia Pacific region and Western United States.

Weinstein recently retired from the US Navy, where he served as Vice Commander, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Pacific, managing the delivery of $10 billion per year in facilities, utilities, and infrastructure services from the Western US to the Indian Ocean. Before that, as Operations Officer, he led a military and civilian staff to deliver major projects and programs to Navy, Marine Corps, and other commands throughout nine geographically dispersed Navy installations across Europe, Africa, and Southwest Asia. Weinstein also served as the Director of Public Works for the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, Maine, overseeing facilities and infrastructure projects for 600 facilities at the shipyard and across 6 states in the Northeast region of the US.

“Brian’s experience managing some of the largest and most complex US government projects and programs globally speaks for itself,” said Chris Williams, senior vice president for Stantec’s US Federal Program. “He is a proven leader with a track record of excellence, and we’re excited to welcome him to the Stantec team. Brian joining our team is outstanding as we continue to strengthen client relationships and accounts for key governmental and commercial clients across North America in our ports and maritime practice.”

Weinstein graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, before graduating with distinction from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California, with a Master of Science in Information Technology Management. Weinstein is also a graduate of the Tuck Executive Leadership Program at Dartmouth College. He is a registered professional engineer, a registered Project Management Professional, and is active in the Society of American Military Engineers.
