DENVER—The Awwa Research Foundation (AwwaRF) changed its name to the Water Research Foundation to better reflect its role within the water industry. The organization has funded and managed more than 1,000 drinking water research projects valued at more than $460 million since its inception in 1966.

According to Executive Director Robert C. Renner, the Foundation needed to reinforce its mission to potential funders to continue studying drinking water impacts such as the effect climate change has on the availability and quality of drinking water and how utilities can effectively assess and treat water for pharmaceuticals discarded in the public water supply.
